What Is the HOMA House?

- This is a beautifully furnished 4 1/2 room apartment in Montreal which is leased to two artists, Sarah and Ben. They make their living traveling around Canada and the US selling art, and so when they are away for long periods of time, the HOMA house is available for others to enjoy. They rent it for the same price that they pay to the landlord and so, the rates are about as cheap as they can be at $525 CDN per month for the whole place. The HOMA house gets it's name from the neighborhood in which it is situated, Hochelaga Maissoneuve, the oldest area of Montreal. The area is still the most francophone neighborhood in the city, with 92% of residents who speak French at home. The apartment is in a perfect location. A quiet street 5 buildings north of Rue Ontario ("Promenade Ontario") on which you will find a Metro grocery store, Ahroma Bakery (one of the best bakeries in Montreal), Le Septième (http://www.leseptieme.com/ they have every indie movie you want. There is an organic bulk foods store, library, lots of cafes, the Marché Maisonneuve, the Botanical Gardens, et al. METRO JOLIETTE is only 6 blocks away. There are two balconies and it comes fully furnished with everything.

High-pressure scalding hot water

everything else you could possibly need to cook, bake or eat anything
a bi-lingual monopoly game
You should know that the HOMA house does not have a bathroom sink. I know, it's weird, but that is how we found it. There's a nice clawfoot tub and a kitchen sink...we hear it's "European" and we kinda like it.
There is also no telephone or internet service included, but you'll probably be settling down for a while, so feel free to hook it up. There is a no contract $30 per month provider here and skype is the free phone service that we use.

How do I sublet the HOMA House?
I gotta say, we don't take just anybody. The HOMA house is perfect: beautiful, well-situated in an amazing city, and super cheap, so we can afford to be selective.
If you are interested in staying here for a while, first, we'd like to meet you. Come by and see the place! (If you can't visit because you are far off, that's okay, we can chat on the phone.) If you decide HOMA house just has to be your home, and we think that you are going to be nice to the furniture we ask for a deposit of $525 CDN. This deposit becomes your last months rent. When you move in, you pay for the first months rent:$525 CDN. Electricity is averaged at $50 CDN per month and you can include that with the rent, or if you think that you will use less electricity, you can pay the bills as they arrive.
